Project Overview:

ESH teams are comprised of three distinct disciplines that support our ESH Management System and processes at project sites and offices. These teams include environmental scientists, safety specialists, and industrial hygiene scientists. Collectively, they provide technical guidance and perform planning, risk assessment, inspections and monitoring, training, and data management.
Job Summary:
The Lead ESH Representative on Night Shift leads the execution of the project Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) program during the hours outside of the normal day shift hours. This involves administrative and field tasks per established industry practices, procedures, and regulatory and Bechtel requirements. The position requires practical application of occupational safety and related disciplines for managing environmental, safety and health aspects of a project. The position reports to the Field Safety Manager or designee and coordinates with the Night Shift Construction Manager.
Work requires physical ability for field inspections, including walking on construction sites in extreme heat or humidity, climbing ladders and scaffolding, working at heights or on uneven surfaces, and entering confined spaces. Must be able to wear assigned PPE (e.g., harness, life vest, gloves, etc.) #LI-AE2
Major Responsibilities:
• Execute assignments during the night shift involving safety and health issues and risks, require judgment and experience in the application of scientific techniques and plans to reduce the potential for adverse impacts.
• Supervise assigned EHS personnel and facilitate their development through assignments, coaching, and mentoring.
• Interpret requirements and provide technical assistance within ESH team and to other project groups regarding risk and hazard assessment, plan preparation, and ESH program execution.
• Research issues and regulatory requirements, performs studies and risk assessments, and prepares documentation and reports.
• Performs safety studies, risk assessments, and other safety and health reviews.
• Implements the project Safety and Health Management Plan, associated plans and procedures, and oversight during night operations.
• Helps establish emergency preparedness and performs incident investigations. Helps identify stakeholders and resolve their concerns.
• Provides input to other project groups, so that safety and health requirements are integrated within project planning, design, construction plans, procurement, and subcontracts.
• Participates in meetings, as required, with customers, project team members, and contractors/subcontractors to advise them of safety and health requirements.
• Conducts inspections and monitoring to help evaluate ES&H performance, identify corrective actions, and confirm compliance with contract, regulatory, project, and Bechtel requirements.
• Develops safety and health communication through publications, flyers, posters, signs, banners, and other communication media.
• Analyzes data, tracks ES&H performance and trends, and prepares technical reports.
• Supports other ES&H team members and tasks associated with all three ES&H disciplines.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Required Knowledge and Skills:
• Ability to research and comprehend organizational and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Computer skills for preparing presentations, data management, and report preparation.
• Analytical skills related to sampling, monitoring, and recordkeeping.
• Adaptable and able to work outdoors in a field environment under various weather conditions.
• Ability to work full time on a construction site and support night shift and a wide range of tasks.
• Valid driver’s license.
Additional Qualifications:
• Demonstrated experience in managing ES&H teams of 5 or more across all three (ESH) disciplines on construction projects with at least 2500 craft workers.
• Knowledge and experience with ISO 45001 Management System standards.
• Specialized technical skills and knowledge related to an applicable safety or health discipline.
• Broad technical knowledge, science skills, and technical writing abilities.
