About the Role:

The States of Guernsey are looking for a Lecturer to join the Creative team at The Guernsey Institute. The successful candidate will work 7-7.25 hours (one day) per week.

The post holder will be expected to plan and deliver high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment within their specialist technical/vocational area, monitoring student progress. The postholder will inspire and challenge learners to develop confidence, and work towards expertise, craftsmanship, and mastery of technical requirements while modelling the professional behaviours and attributes and wider skills required in the workplace and for student’s future development.

 

The 0.2FTE Lecturer in Creative Arts will deliver programmes across 2D and 3D design. Ideally the successful candidate will have experience in delivering from ceramics, digital media, graphic design, fine art, textiles, printing and fashion, and be able to support learners in developing both creative vision and technical expertise across a variety of creative subject areas. A strong subject knowledge and understanding of various printing methods, ceramics and kiln processes would be an advantage. 

 

As a department we are currently delivering UAL Art and Design courses at Level 2 and 3 alongside a level 4/5 BTEC HNC/HND course in specialist creative disciplines.

The lecturer will bring exceptional professional practice, industry insights, and subject expertise to enrich the curriculum, enabling learners to master technical skills while cultivating critical and creative thinking skills.  Future-facing delivery will emphasise innovation in creative technologies and sustainable design, ensuring that learners are equipped for the evolving creative economy.  By engaging with local industry partners, cultural organisations, lecturers will provide learners with real-world contexts and opportunities to showcase their work, preparing them for progression into higher study, employment, or entrepreneurship within the creative industries.
