Lecturer (salary scale 10)

Department: Department of Human Resource Studies

On site: Tilburg,

Contract size: 0.8 – 1.0 fte (32- 40 hours per week)

Full-time gross monthly salary: €3.546 – €5.538

Contract duration: 4 Years (temporary)

Intended start date: 15 August 2026

Your position

Working as a Lecturer in the department Human Resource Studies will involve teaching in about three courses of 6 ECTS in our Bachelor program, mainly focused on Introduction courses to HRM, academic skills and writing and conducting research, mentoring Bachelor groups, and supervising Bachelor theses. The position might also include coordinating one of the courses. Teaching is in Dutch and in English. Part of your contract (20%) is dedicated to your professional development. This involves completing teaching qualification courses, participating in one of the HRS research labs and/or the People Management Center, and active career mentoring by a senior HRS staff member. Obtaining a University Teaching Qualification (UTQ) is not an obligation for Lecturers 4, but a possibility. In close consultation with the manager and the UTQ coordinator, it is determined if and when the start of the UTQ program is on the agenda. Lecturers in this position are, in any case, supported in their lecturing by participating in training courses.

The department offers a stimulating and supportive work environment and challenges its members to realize their ambitions and potential, building on their strengths.

The Department of Human Resource Studies is the only University department in the Netherlands that offers both a Bachelor's and a Master’s (including an extended Master's) program in HR Studies. Our Bachelor's program has a total inflow of about 120 students. The Master’s program is taught in English, and the Dutch Bachelor program offers an international track in “People Management”. In our Master’s program, we offer electives that build on our staff's expertise. Members of the department also participate in three multidisciplinary programs together with other TSB departments in which we teach HRS-related topics: the two-year Research Master program, including a profile “Human Resource Studies“, the Master track “Positive Psychology and Wellbeing”, and the Bachelor track “Global Management of Social Issues”. These are all taught in English.

Your profile

The HR Studies department is looking for an enthusiastic new team member who is excellent at teaching. Applicants should hold a Master's (MSc) or PhD in HRM, business management, or the social sciences, and have experience teaching interactive workgroups for smaller groups and supervising Bachelor's and Master’s theses. Applicants will need to be fluent in both written and spoken English and possess excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • (Nearly) completed Master's or PhD in HRM, business management, or social sciences.
  • Minimum CEFR level C2 English and C2/C1 level Dutch.
  • You are interested in teaching: you have experience in teaching/supervising groups of students.
  • You show personal leadership: you take responsibility for your work and career and possess a good level of self-knowledge.
  • You have team spirit: you feel part of a team and express this through collaboration, sharing knowledge and experiences, and contributing to an open and inclusive work environment.
