Job Description: 

Job Purpose

To provide expert legal services on Agreements, Security Documents and manage litigation portfolio and perform legal assignments.

Key Accountabilities

Conduct strong legal analysis to diagnose what needs to be done and take positions and cases that can prevail in court and to create and find interpretations and strategies that can accomplish the uncommon in the law.

Develop and maintain electronic updated data base of all legal cases (retail and commercial) filed by and against the bank.

Supervise preparation of the defence litigation. Works with Banks legal retainers to develop the defence; briefs and guides them and supervises their work. Assists in court trials and recommends whether a case should be tried or settled.

Attend expert meeting and be able to explain and convince the expert on bank view

Control the legal budget and payment of fees to external counsels

Maintain MIS for legal cases (corporate/retail) and legal expenses
Translation of legal documents
Maintain the list of legal firms and continuous update
Assist Advisory team when required

A high pressure job that requires immediate response/ opinion on complex and intricate transactions and documents to safeguard and protect the Bank’s interest.  required to negotiate and pay legal expenses.

Graduate

Experience and Skills

Education level   
Post Graduate Degree from an internationally recognized law school. 

Professional Qualifications
Law Degree / LLM

Work Experience
A minimum of 4 years local experience in in the legal department of a commercial Bank preferably in the UAE, or 2 years international experience in a reputable law firm (graduated from a reputable international University is an asset).
