Applications are invited for the position of Management Accounting Officer (1 Year Contract), Grade 3 in the Finance Department at Sagicor Life Inc.

 

JOB SUMMARY

 

Reviews and analyses the expenditure of Sagicor Life Inc with significant comparisons to budget and prior years.

 

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1.    Reviews monthly expenses for errors/omissions. Ensures all administrative expenses are allocated correctly by use of the ABC model and recorded in the GL monthly.
  2.    Prepares on a monthly basis operating expense variance analysis to the budget and to prior year for Sagicor Life - Barbados.
  3.    Prepares monthly departmental expense reports to department heads showing actual versus budget variances (for Corporate Departments).
  4.    Distributes monthly regional operating expense variance analysis reports to Corporate Accountants by the 10th working day of each month.
  5.    Prepares and circulates monthly AMI Analysis report.
  6.    Assists in the preparation of the Sagicor Life annual budget especially as it relates to operating expenses.
  7.    Maintains the operating expenses on the Expense Allocation Model, including updating drivers annually during the budgeting process.
  8.    Assists in Sagicor Life costing exercise.
  9.    Prepares accrued expenses audit file for Barbados on a quarterly basis and ensures that at month-end any unpaid amounts are accrued.
10.    Reviews and circulates management allowance statements quarterly.
11.    Manages overseas business travel requests.
12.    Performs any other duties as assigned.

 

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED

Education/Experience:

 

•    A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
•    Currently pursuing a professional accounting qualification.
•    A high proficiency in the use of various types of accounting and spreadsheet software.
•    Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards.
•    Good interpersonal skills.
•    Good written and oral communication skills.
•    Excellent organizational skills.
•    Previous experience within a financial service environment would be an asset.
