Are you a doctor looking to broaden your impact beyond clinical practice? 

We are looking for a Medical Advisor to join Medibank. In this full-time position, you’ll use your clinical experience applying medical judgement, critical thinking and compassion to help shape how we support members across their healthcare journey. 

This role is well suited to doctors who may be earlier in their career but have a strong interest in clinical governance, health systems, population health and innovative models of care, and who want to develop their career outside of a traditional clinical pathway. 

Working alongside cross functional teams, you will support the Senior Medical Advisor and Medical Advisor Lead to guide important clinical decisions, help shape clinical programs, contribute to quality governance, and support innovative models of care.

What you’ll be doing 

• Provide medical advice on clinical matters such as pre‑existing condition determinations and clinical ex‑gratia requests
• Review clinical and health information to ensure it is accurate, evidence‑based and aligned with Medibank’s clinical governance standards
• Support the assessment of accidents, incidents and scope‑of‑cover enquiries
• Contribute clinical insight to the design, delivery and evaluation of health programs and interventions
• Collaborate closely with a range of stakeholders across the business, learning how clinical decisions are made in a broader health system context
• Support quality and governance activities, with guidance from senior medical colleagues
• Step in for the Senior Medical Advisor when required

You’ll be set up for success if you: 

• Are an Australian‑registered Medical Practitioner with at least 3 years of clinical experience
• Are interested in how healthcare systems work and how clinical decisions translate at scale
• Think critically, enjoy problem‑solving and can evaluate complex clinical information
• Communicate clearly and confidently with clinicians, stakeholders and consumers
• Enjoy working collaboratively and learning from multidisciplinary teams
• Are motivated by purpose and improving health outcomes for the community
• Have exposure to health systems, public health, health promotion or private health insurance (desirable, not essential)
