Department: HUMAN PHARMACOLOGY UNIT -Translational & Clinical Research

Core Purpose of the Role: To ensure efficient clinical operations by managing screening, sample collection, subject monitoring, and adherence to study protocols while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.

 

Role Accountabilities:

  • Ensure the readiness of station for blood and urine collection during screening and study.

  • Collection of bio samples for screening process and also during the study.

  • Co-ordinate to perform X-ray and maintain the records of the same.

  • Perform ECG of the volunteer/subject during screening and if applicable, for study.

  • Maintain Temperature monitoring log for respective work areas.

  • Recording vitals of the volunteer/ subjects.

  • Preparation and labelling the vacutainers and RIA vials.

  • To maintain the nurse calling system and to maintain the record of the same.

  • Cannulation and removal of cannula for the blood sampling during the study as required by the protocol.

  • Administration of investigational products.

  • Observation of subjects for adverse events and reporting the same to the duty doctor/investigator immediately.

  • Coordinating with the Investigator/duty doctor in the management of adverse event.

  • Management of bio waste disposal.

  • Maintenance and check of the ICU and ambulance with all necessary equipment and emergency medicines.

  • Coordinate and assist Maintenance department for the calibration of all the instruments pertaining to ICU.

  • Performance of breath alcohol test and blood glucose testing by Glucometer as per protocol requirement.

  • Preparation and dispensing of heparin solution.

  • Co-ordinate with ambulance driver and hospitals for handling emergency procedures and communicate with them regarding every study schedule with possible adverse event.

  • Responsible to provide Hepatitis B vaccination or any other vaccination as applicable to the HPU staff.

Specific requirements for this role

 

  1. Experience

    1. Relevant experience in clinical research, hospital, or healthcare setup
    2. Hands-on experience in sample collection, patient monitoring, and clinical procedures
    3. Exposure to ICU operations and emergency handling is preferred
  2. Demonstrated Capability

    1. Proficiency in clinical procedures such as ECG, cannulation, and sample handling
    2. Ability to manage adverse events and coordinate emergency responses
    3. Strong documentation and compliance adherence skills
    4. Effective communication and coordination with cross-functional teams
  3. Education

    1. B.Sc. Nursing / GNM / Diploma in Nursing or relevant healthcare qualification
