Job Summary

St. Joseph Catholic Church is seeking a faith-filled and dedicated Part-Time PSR Catechist Teacher to support the parish’s religious education program. The ideal candidate will guide students in growing their knowledge of the Catholic faith while fostering a welcoming, engaging, and spiritually enriching classroom environment. This role is responsible for delivering lessons aligned with Church teachings and supporting the faith formation of children.

Job Responsibilities

● Teach weekly religion classes using the parish-approved curriculum.
● Communicate Catholic teachings, traditions, and values in an age-appropriate manner.
● Prepare lesson plans, activities, and materials to engage students in learning about the faith.
● Encourage participation in prayer, scripture reflection, and discussion.
● Create a respectful, welcoming, and faith-centered classroom environment.
● Maintain appropriate classroom behavior and ensure student safety.
● Build positive relationships with students while modeling Christian values.
● Collaborate with the Director of Religious Education and other catechists.
● Communicate effectively with parents regarding student participation and progress.
● Support parish events, sacramental preparation, and religious education activities as requested.

Job Requirements

● Strong knowledge of Catholic teachings and traditions.
● Practicing Catholic in good standing preferred.
● Experience working with children or in a religious education setting preferred.
● Ability to engage and communicate effectively with children.
● Dependable, organized, and able to follow curriculum guidelines.
● Commitment to supporting the faith formation of students.
● Completion of diocesan safe environment requirements (or willingness to obtain).
