Job Title: Postdoctoral Associate - Bioinformatics Education

Division: Molecular Virology and Microbiology

Work Arrangement: Onsite only

Location: Houston, TX

Salary Range: $65,640

FLSA Status: Exempt

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Develops and conducts a curriculum tailored to training biologists in bioinformatics.
Participates in iterative content revision based on participant feedback.
Hones teaching through in-person cohort sessions, at the Texas Medical Center or in the regional area.
Creates compelling online documentation for teaching bioinformatics.
Prepares survey reports, summaries, lesson plans, and perform quantitative analyses of outcomes.
Contributes to preparation of scientific articles reporting program findings, and present results at conferences such as ISMB (Education/Outreach tracks).
Maintains high level professional expertise through familiarity with the current scientific literature.
Interacts with facilitators in related programs, such as the Bioconductor project, EvolvingSTEM, or SEA-PHAGES.
Supports the FunInBio program and lab.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

MD or Ph.D. in biology, bioinformatics, computational biology, biomedical engineering, genomics, genetics, biotechnology, evolution, ecology, systems biology, epidemiology, biomedicine, or a related field.
Experience as an instructor or teaching assistant.
Strong interest in teaching and adult pedagogy is desired.
Demonstratable programming abilities is a plus.
