Work Location:   Perth.  Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

Roster:  Monday to Friday

 

Fortescue is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with strong utility or network operator experience to support the development and governance of power system connections, standards and assurance across our growing transmission network.

 

Reporting to the Principal Engineer – Power System Connections, Standards & Assurance, this role plays a critical part in ensuring all connections to the Fortescue network are safe, compliant and aligned with utility-grade standards, regulatory obligations and good industry practice.

 

You will contribute to the design and governance of technical rules, engineering standards and connection frameworks, supporting a complex remote transmission network operating to utility-level expectations. This role is ideal for someone with experience in regulated networks, utilities or transmission operators who understands the importance of robust standards, compliance and system reliability.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Lead and support development and continuous improvement of utility-level technical rules, engineering standards and assurance frameworks
  • Develop and maintain governance documentation including standards, specifications, procedures and technical guidance aligned to utility practices
  • Ensure network standards comply with legislation, regulatory frameworks and good utility practice
  • Support integration of isolation management systems with operational technology and control room operations
  • Develop and maintain connection, commissioning and energisation procedures for transmission and primary distribution assets
  • Provide engineering advice to internal teams and external stakeholders seeking connection to the Fortescue network
  • Review and approve HV submissions for connection or modification of network assets prior to regulatory submission
  • Monitor and report on network performance and power quality in line with utility expectations
  • Contribute to capital and operational projects to improve system performance and reliability

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Electrical Engineering degree
  • Minimum 5–7 years’ experience in power systems within utility, transmission or distribution network environments
  • Strong understanding of utility technical rules, network standards and regulatory compliance frameworks
  • Experience with HV transmission and primary distribution systems, protection and connection processes
  • Experience developing or maintaining engineering standards, procedures and governance frameworks
  • Familiarity with connection, commissioning and energisation processes in regulated or utility environments
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including interaction with regulators, customers or external connection parties
  • Ability to operate in structured, compliance-driven environments with a focus on safety and reliability
