Apply NowRole overview
We are looking for a strategic technical leader to join our delivery centre in Buenos Aires. In this role, you will define architectural strategy and lead transformative initiatives for our clients, navigating a polyglot environment that blends the agility of Python and Django with the robustness of Java. You will be a technical driver with an end-to-end ownership mindset, moving complex systems from whiteboard sketches to production environments at scale.
As a Principal Software Engineer at Qodea, you’ll:
- Lead the architecture and evolution of scalable, high-performance backend systems.
- Define long-term technical direction by staying ahead of trends in distributed systems and the cloud ecosystem.
- Function as a self-starting leader, identifying technical hurdles before they become blockers and driving teams toward delivery.
- Own the outcome of complex features from initial design through to pull request management, testing, and final production deployment.
- Champion engineering best practices and mentor engineers across teams to raise the bar for code quality and system design.
- Operationalise AI-native technology such as Claude Code or GitHub Copilot to bypass traditional development bottlenecks and maintain high velocity.
Things that will make you stand out:
- Demonstrated ability to influence engineering direction across multiple teams and functions.
- Extensive experience developing large-scale systems using Python (Django/DRF).
- Mastery of AI-native tools to manage complex tasks like schema migrations and large-scale refactoring.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to align diverse technical stakeholders around a cohesive vision.
- Deep understanding of cloud-native environments, specifically GCP, including Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD.
Nice to have:
- Experience with event-driven architecture and message brokers like Apache Kafka.
- Exposure to GraphQL for creating flexible front-end APIs.
- Previous experience in high-growth technology consultancy environments.
