Within NEI, our Data Center Infrastructure Solutions team is transforming how data centers are built—delivering modular, scalable solutions that accelerate deployment, reduce risk, and support the rapid growth of AI and cloud technologies.

 

SLB is looking for a Project Engineer to support the design, engineering, and delivery of modular data center infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for someone with 7+ years of mechanical or electrical engineering experience, particularly in large infrastructure, industrial facilities, or data centers.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with experience in mechanical systems and infrastructure who can lead technical efforts, work directly with clients, and manage multiple complex projects from design through delivery.

Roles and Responsibilities

Project & Engineering Leadership

  • Support the Engineering Manager and take ownership of key technical aspects of data center projects.
  • Coordinate with Sales, Project Management, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and other teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Lead technical discussions and provide guidance to engineering team members.
  • Help onboard and support new engineers as project demands grow.

Design & Technical Oversight

  • Review and approve engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Ensure designs meet customer requirements, industry standards, safety regulations, and engineering best practices.
  • Manage technical designs across multiple projects and clients.
  • Develop engineering scopes of work, execution plans, and project schedules.

Mechanical & Piping Engineering

  • Create and review engineering deliverables, including:

Equipment lists

Valve lists

Piping layouts and line lists

Mechanical equipment data sheets

Pipe sizing and stress analysis calculations

  • Prepare technical requisitions for mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Support design of piping and fire protection systems.
  • Provide piping load information to structural engineers.

Client & Project Support

  • Serve as a technical point of contact for clients.
  • Participate in design reviews, customer meetings, site visits, and commissioning activities.
  • Respond to technical questions and support construction teams during project execution.
  • Manage engineering changes and documentation as needed.

Continuous Improvement

  • Stay current on data center technologies and industry trends.
  • Recommend innovative solutions that improve reliability, efficiency, cost, and project outcomes.
  • Support the selection of coatings, mounting systems, and installation methods for equipment.

Qualifications and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (other engineering disciplines may be considered with relevant experience).
  • Minimum 7 years of mechanical engineering and design experience, preferably within industrial facilities.
  • Experience with:

Mechanical systems

Piping systems

Fire suppression systems

Construction and commissioning projects

  • Strong understanding of engineering codes, standards, and industry regulations.
  • Experience producing and reviewing technical drawings and documentation.

AISI – American Iron and Steel institute

ANSI – American National Standards Institute

ASME –specifically B&PV Section VIII, IX, B31.3

ASTM – American Society of Testing and Materials

AWS – American Welding Society

IBC – International Building Code

MFMA – Metal Framing Manufactures Association

MSS – Manufactures Standardization Society (Valves and Fittings Industry)

OSHA – Occupational Safety and Health Administration

NACE – National Association of Corrosion Engineers

NFPA – National Fire Protection Association

PFI – Pipe Fabrication Institute

Software Experience

  • SolidWorks
  • Autodesk Revit
  • AutoCAD
  • Navisworks
