In this role you will lead and continuously strengthen our food safety, quality, and compliance frameworks. This role is critical in reducing and, where possible, eliminating food safety and compliance risks across imported and manufactured food products.

You will have end‑to‑end responsibility for the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Quality and Food Safety Management System, ensuring compliance with all legislative, regulatory, customer, and certification requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Systems & Compliance

  • Develop, implement, audit, and maintain an effective Quality and Food Safety Management System.
  • Ensure full compliance with legislative, regulatory, and customer food safety requirements.
  • Maintain 100% compliance with food safety, legal, and regulatory obligations.
  • Ensure external certifications are achieved and maintained annually.
  • Manage and maintain the Third‑Party Approved Supplier Program.
  • Ensure supplier compliance with quality, food safety, traceability, and legality requirements, including ongoing supplier maintenance.
  • Maintain import permits and oversee imported product compliance.

Auditing, Risk & Verification

  • Lead HACCP implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement.
  • Undertake risk assessments, food fraud assessments, and internal audits.
  • Maintain verification and product testing programs in line with HACCP plans.
  • Review audit outcomes, manage non‑conformances, and implement corrective and preventative actions.
  • Provide guidance and leadership during external audits (e.g. BRC, ACO, FICA).

Quality Performance & Reporting

  • Analyse customer complaints and non‑conformances, identifying root causes and implementing preventative strategies.
  • Ensure testing and audit schedules are adhered to.
  • Deliver timely, accurate, and meaningful quality and compliance reporting.
  • Oversee the maintenance of technical product specifications and site procedures.
  • Ensure the quality team remains up to date with current legislation and customer requirements.

About You

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree qualified in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related discipline.
  • 5–7 years’ experience in food quality, food safety, and compliance roles.
  • Strong experience in food manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated experience with HACCP, SQF, WQA, AQIS, and BRC.
  • Internal Auditor qualification.
  • HACCP Practitioner certification (desirable).
  • External Auditor experience (desirable).
  • QAP / FICA training (desirable).
  • SAP experience.

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proven problem‑solving and risk‑based thinking capability.
  • High attention to detail with strong surveillance and auditing skills.
  • Excellent organisational and reporting skills.
  • Strong computer literacy and data management capability.

Why Join Us?

This is an opportunity to take ownership of quality systems in a complex food environment and play a key role in protecting brand integrity, consumer safety, and regulatory compliance.

All correspondence will be dealt with in strict confidence.
