About You
You are a passionate Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) preferably with previous experience within child mental health nursing, and familiarity with milieu therapy is desirable but this is a great opportunity to expand your skills and knowledge in this area if you do not have this experience
You also have excellent communication skills and are able to work well with young people, related services and their families within the multidisciplinary team setting.
The role provides the enviable opportunity to develop your capabilities of working within a diverse Early in Life Mental Health Setting (ELMHS); and extending your knowledge and skills at liaising with external agencies. The Grade 2 Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) position is a clinical role responsible for clinical outcomes under the direction of the Associate Nurse Manager and Nurse Manager.
The RPN is committed to teamwork, respect and collaborates to provide excellent and accountable high quality, recovery orientated nursing practice and service delivery for all patients and their families/carers. You will also work collaboratively with the various components of the ELMHS service
The RPN supports, supervises, mentors and coaches the mental health Enrolled Nurses, in delivering support and holistic nursing care to patients and families during crisis and transition periods of their mental illness, considering the persons, physical, psychological, social, spiritual and cultural needs.

About OASIS
The Oasis Child Neuropsychiatry Inpatient Unit (Oasis) is a purpose built unit located in the Monash Children’s Hospital. Oasis provides specialist assessment and care planning for children aged up to 12 years, with neurodevelopmental disorders (such as Autism Spectrum Disorder or Intellectual Disability) and/or who show severe or complex psychiatric, behavioural and developmental symptoms that indicate need for a short term inpatient service.
All children admitted to the unit are accompanied by parent /carer who remain throughout the admission.
Oasis is a multi-disciplinary unit that provides a range of consultation services, brief emergency admissions, and planned assessment admissions. The unit is part of the network of infant, child and youth mental health services (ICFYMHS) situated across metropolitan and regional Victoria. Patient care is carefully planned and managed through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure an integrated and effective service, tailored to the individual needs of each child, family and carer. Oasis is a centre for excellence with an active clinical and research program that integrates and enhances knowledge from psychiatry, paediatrics, neurology, endocrinology, and other specialist medical and allied health services.
