The Commercial Development (ComDev) department, a division of the Properties and Services at UCT, invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for this permanent Sales Reservationist position, for appointment as soon as possible.

 

The Sales Reservationist is a hybrid role that combines proactive sales and business development responsibilities during off-peak seasons with reservation and guest services support during peak Vacation Accommodation periods. The role exists to help drive new business to the ComDev hospitality portfolio while ensuring operational support during high-demand periods. Kindly note that this position is shift based and weekend work would be required. Our peak period is during June and December holiday period.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION:

  • Higher Certificate or Diploma in Hospitality, Tourism, Sales, or related field (NQF Level 5 or higher).
  • At least 2-3 years’ recent and relevant sales management experience.
  • Lodging sales experience.
  • Account management experience.
  • Proven track record of converting leads and managing bookings.
  • Tourism management.
  • Experience with property management systems and sales tracking tools.

THE FOLLOWING WILL BE ADVANTAGEOUS:

  • Knowledge and experience in the hospitality industry (i.e. Hotels).
  • Proven ability to drive sales targets and acquire new business.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

 

Sales and Business Development:

  • Develop and implement a strategic sales plan for the various hospitality departments.
  • Build and maintain a database of prospective clients and follow up on leads from previous guests, events, and networks.
  • Grow the department’s market segmentation, thus penetrating into new markets.
  • Create a sustainable stream of income through the use of contracts that advance the department’s profitability.

 

Relationship Management:

  • Forge mutually beneficial relationships with our stakeholders and improve our customer satisfaction. Ensuring that guest needs are met.

 

Reporting and Coordination:

  • Monthly sales performance summary highlighting lead sources, conversion ratios, and value of bookings closed.

 

Reservations Management:

  • Supporting the booking team with administrative tasks and reservation processing to ensure seamless operations during peak periods.

 

The annual cost of employment, including benefits for 2026 is between R 531 313,00 and R 625 071,00
