Job Summary
The Part-Time School Nurse at Holy Cross Academy provides health services to support the physical, emotional, and social well-being of students and staff in a faith-centered educational environment. This role promotes student health and safety, manages health-related needs during the school day, and supports the mission of the school through compassionate care and professionalism.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide first aid, illness assessment, and emergency care to students and staff as needed.
- Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and school policies.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student health records in compliance with school, diocesan, and state regulations.
- Manage student health plans, including care for chronic conditions, allergies, and medical accommodations.
- Monitor immunization records and ensure compliance with state and school requirements.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with parents/guardians regarding student health concerns, injuries, and medical needs.
- Collaborate with faculty, administration, and support staff to promote a safe and healthy school environment.
- Provide health education resources and guidance to students and staff as appropriate.
- Implement infection control procedures and support wellness initiatives.
- Participate in emergency preparedness planning and response.
- Uphold confidentiality, ethical standards, and professional nursing practices at all times.
- Support the Catholic mission and values of Holy Cross Academy through respectful conduct and service.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in school nursing, pediatrics, or community health (preferred).
- Knowledge of child development, health education, and emergency care procedures.
- Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with students, families, and school staff.
- Commitment to supporting the mission and Catholic identity of Holy Cross Academy.
