Senior Analyst | Controls Assurance - Financial Services Third Party | Sydney

Date:  4 May 2026

Location:

Sydney, NSW, AU

Department:  Audit and Assurance

Description:

Job Requisition ID: 39920

  • Purposeful client work with real community impact
  • Tackle big issues like cyber, trust, resilience and digital transformation
  • Be part of market-leading projects with global scale and complexity
  • Give back through Impact Day and volunteering opportunities

You've built a strong foundation in external audit or accounting — now imagine a role where that expertise becomes your specialisation, not just one part of a broader engagement.

We're looking for Senior Analysts to join our Controls & Third-Party Assurance team in Melbourne, Sydney, or Brisbane. This is a permanent role within Deloitte's Audit & Assurance business, and it's one of our fastest-growing specialisations. As regulatory expectations increase and financial services organisations rely more heavily on third-party service providers, the demand for skilled assurance professionals in this space has never been stronger. If you've been looking for a clear path to deepen your expertise while working with some of the biggest names in Australian and global financial services, this is it.

What will your typical day look like?

In this role, you'll be applying audit methodology — planning, risk assessment, controls testing, and reporting — to help financial services clients gain assurance over their internal controls and the controls operated by their third-party service providers. The work is grounded in assurance standards such as ASAE 3402 and GS 007, and the reports you produce are relied upon by external auditors and their clients for financial reporting purposes. While technology controls like access management and change management will form part of the engagement scope, the work is fundamentally audit-led and serves a financial reporting objective — this isn't an IT risk or cybersecurity role.

You'll support and increasingly lead a portfolio of recurring and non-recurring engagements — setting project plans, conducting fieldwork, and developing client deliverables. The clients you'll work with include fund administrators, custodians, registry providers, and superannuation trustees, so you'll build deep knowledge of how financial services operations actually work. Over time, you'll also help shape and expand the services the team offers as the third-party assurance landscape continues to evolve.

About the team

Our Controls & Third-Party Assurance team is a specialist group within Deloitte's Audit & Assurance business. We're a close-knit, growing team of professionals who genuinely enjoy the work — most of us came from external audit backgrounds and found this to be a natural and rewarding next step. The team culture is collaborative and supportive, with a real emphasis on developing each person's technical expertise and client management skills. We work with a portfolio that includes some of the largest financial services organisations in Australia and globally, and our reputation in the market means we're regularly brought in for complex, high-profile engagements. It's a team where your contributions are visible and your growth is taken seriously.

Enough about us, let's talk about you.

You may have all or some of the following skills / experiences:

  • 3–4 years' experience in external audit, internal audit, or a similar professional services environment — if you trained at a Big 4 or mid-tier audit practice, your skills translate directly into this role
  • An understanding of audit methodology and controls testing, with the ability to assess whether controls are designed and operating effectively in the context of financial reporting
  • Exposure to ASAE 3402, GS 007, or similar assurance reporting standards — a genuine advantage, though not essential if your audit fundamentals are strong
  • Financial services industry experience, particularly across wealth management — fund managers, superannuation funds, administrators, registry providers, or custodians
  • A CA, CPA, or equivalent qualification (completed or in progress)
  • Strong written communication skills — you'll be drafting reports and deliverables that clients and their auditors rely on
  • Confidence in building and managing client relationships, with the initiative to take ownership of your work
  • Curiosity and a genuine interest in understanding how organisations manage risk and deliver reliable financial reporting
  • A collaborative mindset — you enjoy working in a team and are willing to support others as the group continues to grow
