Senior Backend Engineer (Typescript, AWS, GraphQL)

We are seeking a Senior API Engineer to help develop and operate an omnichannel API platform supporting a large Australian retailer. The platform enables consistent digital experiences across web, mobile, and in-store channels. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on building reliable, scalable APIs using Node.js, TypeScript, GraphQL, REST, and AWS. You will contribute to technical design, application development, infrastructure-as-code, production support, and the ongoing improvement of the platform. Key responsibilities• Design, develop, test, and maintain APIs within a GraphQL-based omnichannel platform • Build reliable backend services using Node.js and TypeScript • Design and evolve GraphQL schemas while following established schema governance and API standards • Develop and maintain AWS infrastructure using AWS CDK and TypeScript • Work with AWS services including ECS, Fargate, VPC, Application Load Balancer, CloudWatch, and related platform services • Contribute to technical design discussions and provide practical input into solution approaches • Diagnose and resolve production issues across application and infrastructure layers • Improve API performance, scalability, reliability, observability, and security • Write automated tests and participate in code reviews • Support continuous integration, deployment, and operational practices • Collaborate with engineers, architects, product teams, and delivery teams across Vietnam and Australia • Share technical knowledge and support less-experienced engineers when required
