Project Overview:
Yanacocha Water Treatment Plant (WTP):
Located 800 km northeast of Lima, Peru, Yanacocha is South America’s largest gold mine. The WTP Project consists of two of the largest acid water treatment plants in South America (the West one with capacity of 3,000 m3/hour and the East one with 2,700 m3/hour). Early works are currently being performed on site, preparing the permanent platforms and laydown areas for the East and West plants, in addition to the Class 2 estimate, Level 3 schedule and Execution Plan.
Job Summary:
The Senior Construction Coordinator is responsible for coordinating multidisciplinary construction activities to support project completion, system turnover, and readiness for commissioning and operations. The position provides leadership across Construction, Field Engineering, Quality, Commissioning & Startup (CSU), and Operations interfaces to ensure systems are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project objectives.
The role oversees construction completion planning, turnover readiness, punch-list management, system walkdowns, and handover execution, ensuring that project systems are delivered to Commissioning, Startup, and Operations in alignment with the project schedule and contractual milestones.
Major Responsibilities:
- Coordinating multidisciplinary construction activities associated with system completion, turnover, and project closeout.
- Leading the planning and execution of construction-to-pre-operations handover strategies.
- Interfacing with Construction, Quality, Field Engineering, CSU, and Client representatives to resolve completion and turnover issues.
- Coordinating system turnover priorities and ensures alignment with commissioning and startup requirements.
- Facilitating system walkdowns, identifying completion gaps, and driving closure of punch-list and exception items.
- Monitoring construction completion status and turnover readiness across assigned project areas.
- Supporting development and execution of turnover plans, turnover sequences, and handover schedules.
- Reviewing turnover documentation packages for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with project procedures.
- Identifying risks to turnover milestones and implements mitigation and recovery actions.
- Coordinating meetings with project stakeholders to review system completion progress, turnover constraints, and readiness status.
- Supporting care, custody, and control transfers between Construction, CSU, and Operations organizations. Monitoring and reporting turnover performance metrics, turnover forecasts, and completion trends.
- Ensuring turnover activities are performed in compliance with ES&H, quality, and project requirements. Supporting final project closeout activities and captures lessons learned associated with construction completion and turnover processes.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline, minimum 10–15 years of experience in industrial construction, mining, EPC/EPCM, commissioning, startup, or project delivery.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary field construction teams.
- Experience in system completion, turnover, pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, or operational readiness programs.
- Previous experience supporting plant handovers to operations is preferred.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong knowledge of construction execution and completion processes.
- Understanding of turnover, system completion, commissioning, startup, and operational readiness requirements.
- Experience leading construction interfaces across multiple disciplines.
- Strong planning, coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Familiarity with construction scheduling, punch-list management, turnover tracking systems, and project controls reporting.
- Demonstrated leadership in field execution and stakeholder management.
