The role is responsible for the administration and commercial management of assigned medium‑ to high‑value subcontracts, exercising independent judgement on complex contractual matters within established project and corporate governance frameworks.

Working closely with the Contract Manager and wider Project Supply Chain team, the Senior Contract Administrator ensures that contract obligations are properly implemented, risks and changes are actively managed, and subcontractors perform in accordance with contractual, commercial, safety, quality, schedule, and cost requirements. The role acts as a key commercial interface with internal stakeholders and subcontractors and provides technical guidance and mentoring to less‑experienced contracts personnel.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Leads subcontract formation activities for assigned packages, including early contractor engagement activities, preparation of bid documentation, management of bid processes, commercial evaluation, negotiation support, and commitment approvals within delegated authority.
  • Manages subcontract variations, amendments, and claims of moderate complexity, supporting negotiations and settlements in line with contractual provisions and project strategy.
  • Maintains accurate commercial records, financial status reports, and correspondence to provide clear visibility of subcontract performance and exposure.
  • Coordinates closely with Construction, Engineering, Project Controls, Legal, Risk Management, and Procurement to ensure integrated contract execution and alignment with project plans.
  • Supports the implementation of the project’s subcontract management procedures, Supply Chain Assignment Schedule, and division of responsibilities.
  • Ensures that subcontract activities comply with Bechtel policies, IWPP, project procedures, and applicable regulatory and export control requirements.
  • Provides functional guidance and mentoring to junior contracts or supply chain personnel and supports knowledge transfer across the team.
  • Contributes to audits, reviews, and lessons‑learned activities related to contracts and subcontract administration.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex subcontracts on large EPC or infrastructure projects.
  • Experience in regulated environments (e.g. nuclear, energy, infrastructure, or similarly complex sectors) is preferred.
  • Experience or knowledge of the European market is preferred.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Senior Subcontract Administration Expertise
Strong experience administering medium to complex subcontracts, including compliance, change management, and close‑out activities on large projects.
  • Commercial Judgement & Risk Awareness
Ability to identify contractual and commercial risks, assess implications, and support mitigation and resolution actions using sound professional judgement.
  • Contract Formation & Negotiation Capability
Proficient in bid preparation, commercial evaluation, negotiation support, and subcontract execution within delegated authority.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Communication
Effective communicator with the ability to work closely with Construction, Engineering, Legal, Project Controls, and Supply Chain stakeholders.
  • Governance, Policy & Regulatory Understanding
Solid working knowledge of EPC contracting practices, corporate governance frameworks (e.g. IWPP), and applicable regulatory and compliance requirements.
