Senior Engineer (Road Safety)

We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer (Road Safety) to join our Design & Commissioning Team within Highways and Traffic. This is an exciting opportunity to lead on the design and delivery of innovative road safety schemes that reduce collisions, improve accessibility, and enhance the quality of life for residents. You will play a key role in shaping the borough’s approach to road safety, working on projects that range from traffic calming measures to major junction improvements. Your expertise will help us achieve our Vision Zero objectives and support sustainable transport initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead on the development and delivery of road safety engineering projects from concept to completion.
• Undertake collision analysis and identify priority locations for intervention.
• Prepare detailed designs, specifications, and cost estimates for traffic management and safety schemes.
• Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources effectively.
• Liaise with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and best practice guidance.
• Contribute to the development of policies and strategies that promote safer roads and active travel.
