We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior HSE Specialist to join our team in Hassi Messaoud, Algeria. The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting local management in establishing, maintaining, and continuously improving a strong Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) culture across operations.

Special Note

All positions based in the South of Algeria are managed via the ANEM process. Candidates must have a valid ANEM subscription and submit their application through the ANEM agencies of Ouargla or Touggourt wilayas.

This position requires a proactive professional who can drive HSE excellence, ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulations, and support operational teams in achieving their HSE objectives.

Key Responsibilities

HSE Leadership & Compliance

  • Support local management in developing and maintaining a strong HSE culture at the worksite.
  • Ensure HSE policies, standards, and objectives are integrated into operational and management activities.
  • Advise management on HSE compliance requirements, corrective actions, and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Monitor compliance with company HSE standards, local regulations, and host country requirements.

HSE Management System

  • Assist line management in understanding and implementing the HSE Management System.
  • Prepare, maintain, and monitor HSE plans to ensure effective implementation at the location level.
  • Develop and maintain local HSE procedures, work instructions, and checklists.
  • Ensure all HSE documentation is current, accurate, and readily available onsite.

Risk Assessment & Incident Management

  • Support the identification and assessment of workplace risks and hazards.
  • Participate in incident, accident, and failure investigations.
  • Assist management in determining root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Analyze HSE trends and recommend improvement initiatives.

Audits & Reporting

  • Conduct and support HSE compliance audits and self-assessments.
  • Monitor HSE performance indicators and prepare reports as required.
  • Facilitate Local Performance Team (LPT) meetings and HSE audits.
  • Review QUEST records to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and timely updates.

Training & Awareness

  • Coordinate and participate in HSE inductions and training programs for employees and contractors.
  • Maintain a high level of HSE awareness through communication, coaching, and engagement initiatives.
  • Keep management informed of new HSE requirements, documentation, and training materials.

Stakeholder Management

  • Liaise with contractors, local authorities, and external agencies on HSE-related matters.

  • Promote collaboration and alignment on HSE expectations and performance standards.

  • Several years of relevant HSE experience within the energy, oil & gas, industrial, or related sectors.

  • Proven experience conducting HSE audits, investigations, risk assessments, and training programs.

  • Experience working in remote operational environments is highly desirable.
