This is a 12 Month Fixed Term Contract (FTC) position based in Melbourne/Sydney.

About the Team & the Position

 

The Senior Integration Developer plays a key role in supporting existing systems and participating in projects for the technical delivery of support, defect fixes, new functionality to support AEMO Integrations.

This role is a combination of new application delivery and support of our existing systems. You will be heavily involved in the maintenance and enhancement of software applications in accordance with enterprise architecture principles and the IT Strategy to support AEMO energy market operator functions. You will provide timely, detailed and effective support of critical business functions inside and outside of business hours, develop and maintain key systems, and maintain close communication with internal stakeholders required to support and implement business and technical solutions. You will join an experienced team where you will be supported and educated in the many systems AEMO runs and supports.

 

On call will be required one week in five approximately once you have the required detailed knowledge, dependent on the numbers of staff. All facilities for remote support will be provided with appropriate compensation.

 

 

Position Responsibilities

  • Design, development, deployment and delivery of Integration components.
  • Be part of a product-based team working on multiple projects.
  • Provide support for existing AEMO Integration Solutions.
  • Provide develpment and technical subject matter expertise to ensure development activities are aligned with scope, schedule, priority and business objectives.
  • Identify and escalate risks, issues, and dependencies to the Development Lead or Team Manager through clear and timely communication.
  • Collaborate effectively with Business Analysts, Architects, Developers, and Testers to deliver high‑quality outcomes.
  • Demonstrate strong, compelling communication skills, engaging a broad range of stakeholders from SMEs to Senior Management.

 

Position Requirements

Skills & Experience:

  • Hands‑on experience in the design, development, and implementation of solutions on integration platforms such as APIM, Boomi, and webMethods.
  • Strong experience and knowledge in Microservices and API development.
  • Experience supporting 24x7 production systems, delivering robust and highly available solutions.
  • Demonstrated contemporary knowledge of IT solutions and best practices in system design and development. Proven ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams across AEMO.
  • Experience with Kong and RabbitMQ is desirable.
  • Proven track record of implementing and supporting complex, highly available systems.
  • Experience working in high‑performance teams, using Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid delivery methodologies.
  • Hands‑on experience with modern source control and CI/CD tools, such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or Bamboo.
  • Ability to produce high‑quality technical documentation and contribute to the developer knowledge base.
  • Strong commitment to continuous improvement, with a focus on improving both quality and speed of delivery.

Must be an Australian citizen with the ability to attain and maintain an appropriate level of national security clearance.

 

Education/ professional Certifications: 

  • Degree or tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Relevant professional certifications in applicable technologies, or equivalent practical experience, will be highly regarded.
