Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Through this model, the Club generates economic and social value for the community and supports the HKSAR Government in combatting illegal gambling.

The Division

The Charities and Community (C&C) Division manages strategic planning, grant donations, impactful project initiation, community engagement, and the day-to-day operations of the HKJC Charities Trust. C&C works with the Government, NGOs, and community partners to proactively identify root causes of social issues and address them through innovative approaches and cross-sectoral collaboration.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Head of Charities (Mainland & Global Programmes), the job holder supports the end-to-end development of a strategic knowledge, thought leadership and convening platform on philanthropy for IoP, from concept development, operating model and business case, to making grant recommendations to the Board and implementation

The Job

  • Assist in the design, planning, and implementation of key initiatives focused on regional and global philanthropy, including the Foundations Circle, and thematic research projects with research firms and universities.
  • Develop and execute engagement activities and forums related to key research publications, addressing an audience of global funders, multilateral organisation, policymakers and other stakeholders.
  • Support the identification of strategic partners, assist in conducting due diligence and assessments, and contribute to the development and implementation of strategic partnerships with reputable institutions to promote knowledge consolidation, generation, and dissemination on philanthropic practices and issues.
  • Contribute to the curation of a library of publications with regional or global value on non-profit and philanthropic topics, including articles, case studies, journals, and regular publications.
  • Monitor the progress of anticipated outputs and outcomes, budget spending, and evaluation and impact assessment. Prepare strategic presentations to Management.
  • Support the development and implementation of governance and controls to ensure effective operations of IoP. Provide secretarial support for related committees and working groups as needed.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree with over 10 years of relevant experience, preferably with work experience in leading philanthropic organisations or world-class academic institutions in relevant fields
  • Good knowledge of philanthropic topics and practices, and network and experience in Mainland and/or global philanthropic sector strongly preferred
  • Business development competence
  • Strong project management skills
  • Events organisation and management experience
  • Strong analytical abilities and ability to apply strategic frameworks and problem solving approaches
