Senior Manager – PSS & Airport Systems

Position Summary

The Senior Manager – PSS & Airport Systems is responsible for leading the airline’s strategic, commercial, and operational relationship with Passenger Service System (PSS) and Airport System providers.

The role owns vendor governance, commercial negotiations, performance management, and value realization to ensure PSS and airport systems deliver optimal operational stability, cost efficiency, and strategic alignment with the airline’s commercial and distribution objectives.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Strategic Vendor & Account Leadership
  • Own the overall PSS/Airport system provider account relationship.
  • Establish and lead structured governance frameworks (QBRs, executive steering committees).
  • Serve as escalation point for major service disruptions or contractual disputes.
  • Align provider roadmap with airline digital, commercial, and operational strategy.
  • Maintain executive-level relationships within provider organizations.
  1. Commercial Ownership & Contract Management
  • Lead contract negotiations, renewals, and major amendments.
  • Own commercial models (per passenger boarded, per segment, per transaction, licensing).
  • Drive cost optimization initiatives and identify savings opportunities.
  • Monitor SLA compliance, service credits, penalties, and incentive mechanisms.
  • Conduct commercial benchmarking against market standards.
  • Ensure contractual alignment with distribution and technology strategy.
  1. Performance & Service Governance
  • Accountable for end-to-end performance of PSS and airport systems.
  • Monitor system stability, resilience, and service quality.
  • Lead root cause reviews for major incidents.
  • Ensure preventive measures and service improvements are implemented.
  • Provide executive dashboards on vendor performance and risk exposure.
  1. Program & Change Leadership

  • Lead major PSS/Airport system initiatives including:

    • Core system migrations
    • Major upgrades and transformation programs
    • Regulatory or IATA-driven compliance initiatives

  • Oversee cross-functional coordination across IT, Commercial, Airport Ops, Finance, and Digital.

  • Ensure delivery within budget, timeline, and scope.

  • Manage change impact and business readiness.

  1. Internal Stakeholder & Executive Management
  • Act as internal SME and advisor on PSS/Airport system capabilities and contracts.
  • Translate business strategy into vendor requirements and commercial structures.
  • Provide leadership-level updates on account health, risks, and value realization.
  • Support senior leadership in strategic decision-making regarding system investments.
  1. Continuous Improvement & Innovation

  • Drive innovation initiatives leveraging provider capabilities.

  • Identify opportunities to:

    • Improve operational efficiency
    • Reduce distribution and airport technology costs
    • Enhance passenger experience

  • Monitor industry trends and competitor benchmarks.

  • Implementation of new technologies such as offer & order.

  • Influence provider product roadmap to align with airline priorities
