Summary:

This role is responsible for the growth and integration of North America payroll and shared services and reports to the Director HR Shared Services.  Responsible for end-to-end payroll processing, ensures compliance with tax laws and analyzes payroll financial data.

Essential Functions:

  • Serve as the payroll systems subject matter expert, leading and supporting payroll system implementations, integrations, upgrades and enhancements to the payroll and timekeeping platforms with quality customer service.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing of weekly and bi-weekly payrolls for employees in the multiple states in the US and Canada.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for payroll tax matters, including agency notices, tax registrations, state and local tax compliance, unemployment insurance accounts, and regulatory inquiries.
  • Monitor federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations, ensuring ongoing compliance while identifying opportunities to improve processes and efficiency.
  • Lead the annual payroll year-end process, including planning, reconciliation, reporting, and successful completion of all year-end activities.
  • Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts, bank statements, and financial transactions, researching and resolving discrepancies as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with Finance, Human Resources, IT, Audit, and external vendors to ensure payroll operations remain accurate, SOX compliant, efficient, and aligned with evolving business needs.
  • Analyze payroll data and processes to identify trends, improve controls, and enhance overall payroll performance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field.   May consider equivalent work experience in lieu of degree.
  • 4+ years of progressive experience with demonstrated responsibility for payroll processing and compliance.
  • Experience working with payroll and timekeeping systems, including system analysis, integrations, implementations, or enhancements.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with a high degree of attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.

Preferred:

  • Experience with ADP payroll and timekeeping systems.
  • Experience supporting unionized workforces.
  • Experience processing shift differentials, complex pay rules, or manufacturing payroll environments.
