Senior Policy Officer – Dispute Management

 

  • $137,963.00 per annum + 12% superannuation
  • Full time, ongoing opportunity
  • Wadawurrung/Geelong based role (hybrid work from home – 3 days a week in office)

 

 

 

About the opportunity

 

The Senior Policy officer will play an important role within our Claims Practices team with both a policy and dispute management focus in meeting the organisation’s performance targets associated with our critical measures including Sustainability, APA oversight and Service. This role requires flexibility and responsiveness to the needs of the scheme.

 

The Senior Policy Officer is expected to take a leading role in the development, implementation and evaluation of the claims management framework, strategies and services. The role is accountable for developing, implementing and evaluating specific aspects of claims management strategy and associated programs, as determined from time to time.

 

The role will manage and co-ordinate the development and implementation of projects and work practices to support policy and program implementation of claims and benefits initiatives.

 

This position will also provide strong professional development opportunities with exposure to a wide range of activities across diverse stakeholder groups.

 

Key accountabilities:

  • Provide expert advice and guidance to WorkSafe staff on claims policy and related work practice implementation
  • Lead the development, implementation and review of agent policies and related work practices for relevant initiatives including undertaking consultation with agents and developing KPIs
  • Educate and inform agents and staff by providing structured expert advice on policy and associated work practices at scheme-wide and claims management levels
  • Develop and implement effective monitoring frameworks for all initiatives implemented in order to measure effectiveness
  • Update and maintain the Claims Manual in partnership with internal stakeholders to ensure it is in line with new or redeveloped policies and associated work practices
  • Oversight and monitoring of the Dispute Timeliness APA.

About you

 

 

You will have strong experience within an aligned policy position in addition to experience within claims dispute management.

 

 

In addition you will comfortable working within ambiguity and have proven techniques to manage change as well as being able to work autonomously and in a team environment

 

 

Your strengths will also include your passion for customer service, your interpersonal and relationship building skills across diverse stakeholder groups and ability to influence senior stakeholders to deliver agreed outcomes.

 

 

Additionally you will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Demonstrated understanding of the legal, policy and claims operational environment governing WorkSafe and be able to identify and develop initiatives, policy and responses in terms of relevant legislation and Acts
  • Experience in dispute management particularly related to the Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2013.
  • Strong facilitation and negotiation skills and the ability to utilize data received from stakeholders as well as analysis and research as a basis for informing decision making across a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Proven ability to translate policy into operational work practices and procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and prioritise work and resources within organizational constraints and a changing work environment
