JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Production Supervisor is responsible for leading high-volume, secure card manufacturing operations in a fast-paced, SLA-driven environment. This role directly supports the Head of Operations and serves as a key leader across multi-shift production, ensuring all programs are executed on time, within quality standards, and at maximum efficiency.

This position will act as the primary escalation point for production issues, including equipment downtime, staffing gaps, and quality concerns, while driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Identify and troubleshoot technical issues within the production departments.
  • Supervise plant operations for assigned production department(s).
  • Coordinate production activities with other department supervisors to ensure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Maintain production reports to monitor and control profits, plans, and budget.
  • Establish and monitor performance for production and quality standards.
  • Control and minimize labor overtime through planning and scheduling of work.
  • Review and analyze production quality control and work with Quality team to address any quality issues.
  • Confer with management to revise production schedules as a result of equipment failures or operating problems.
  • Incorporate shop floor organization and plant cleanliness among plant personnel.
  • Provide direction, development and leadership to production team.
  • Coordinate staffing needs with the Head of Operations to determine if temp labor is needed to cover peak production periods.
  • Address performance issues as they arise, working with Human Resources on progressive discipline as needed.
  • Lead, motivate, coach and direct team members within departments.
  • Effectively communicate compliance on policies, procedures, processes, and general company information.
  • Maintain accountability of employees to meet plan hours/cost and due dates to achieve project profitability and to continuously improve cost performance over time.
  • Perform related job duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead multi-shift operations (1st, 2nd, and future 3rd shift) to ensure continuous production coverage.
  • Ensure on-time shipment execution for critical state programs.
  • Act as floor authority during off-hours, making real-time decisions impacting production and shipment.
  • Drive machine utilization and throughput optimization across MX6100 platforms.
  • Partner with Engineering/IT to resolve machine, data, and personalization system issues.
  • Maintain strict adherence to PCI, NASPO, and secure manufacturing standards.
  • Support ramp-up activities including new machine installations and program onboarding.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of experience working in a manufacturing plant environment.
  • High School diploma required.
  • 3–5+ years of leadership experience in high-volume manufacturing required.
  • Experience in SLA-driven or deadline-critical production environments strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of engineering, manufacturing practices, logistics, safety, quality, purchasing and materials management.
  • A customer focused team player with excellent communication, strong problem solving and organizational skills. Past experience leading teams, departments, and developing teams.
  • Understanding of Lean manufacturing and Quality standards.
  • Leadership skills driven by values that support the objectives of the company.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees and a service orientation.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Must possess high standards of personal integrity.
  • Willingness to work extended hours, including Saturdays, to cover peak production periods.
  • Knowledge about Datacard (Entrust) machine, creating job setups, modules and card layout setups.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree is a plus.
  • Experience in one of the following industries is a big plus - plastic cards, printing, bindery, and fulfillment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Requires the ability to sit and work at a computer workstation for extended periods (2+ hours per day).
  • Requires the ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the production floor for extended periods as needed.
  • Must be able to operate and troubleshoot production equipment, including personalization and mailing systems, as required.
  • Requires visual acuity to operate a computer, read screens, review detailed production data, and interpret technical documentation.
  • Requires manual dexterity to operate a computer, tools, and production equipment controls.
  • May require occasional lifting, pushing, or pulling of materials (typically up to 50 lbs).
  • Must be comfortable working in a manufacturing environment, including exposure to moving mechanical parts and moderate noise levels.
  • Must be able to respond quickly to production floor issues and emergencies.
