Senior Specialist Inbound Transportation (m/f/d)

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization: 
Coordinate third-party inbound transportation activities for adidas Direct Customers, which are wholesale customers that receive inbound shipments from adidas from ports and airports in addition to those that are shipped from adidas Distribution Centers (DCs). 

 

Your goal is to achieve a world class service level at optimum cost. Focusing on destination country activities, ensure that inbound ocean, air, rail and road transportation in Europe achieves and exceeds the requirements of these Direct customers. 

 

Work closely with LSPs, DCs, Customs teams, Amsterdam Inbound teams, Customer Fulfilment and Customer Services teams to ensure timely and accurate visibility of information and on time delivery. 

 

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Recommend, develop and implement inbound transportation solutions, that maximize efficiency, focused on European destination country activities including Logistic Service Provider (LSP), port, inland terminal and Direct customer initiatives

  • Lead internal project initiatives for Direct customers

  • Support and coach colleagues in your team with your knowledge and experience

  • Deputize manager and support him/her by taking over tasks

  • Maintain an up to date understanding of the changing requirements of adidas Direct customers

  • Optimize Detention and Demurrage options in order to minimize spend when container storage is required

  • Ensure ocean freight container restitution is completed and recorded in a timely manner at the recognized restitution points

  • Ensure, that transit times are managed to enable timely delivery of product to Direct customers, LSPs adhere to transportation dates and lead times, ocean freight container restitution is completed and recorded in a timely manner

  • Review and propose improvements to the Direct process, to ensure the timely delivery of product to Direct customers

 

Teamwork: 

  • Build and maintain excellent relationships with other Market and Global functions to ensure focus on achieving Market Europe goals. Key functions include Global Logistics, Procurement, Customer Fulfilment and Account Operations

  • Develop strong, effective relationships with LSPs

  • Represent Inbound Transportation in meetings, providing necessary data and other inputs as required

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  

  • Good knowledge of SCM processes

  • IT literacy

  • Essential: Excel, Word, Outlook

  • Desirable: Access/SQL, SAP, BI tool / data warehouse experience desirable)

  • Good attention to detail, methodical, process driven

  • Results driven with ability to work individually as well as part of a team

  • Analytical, excellent problem solver

  • Flexible, with ability to adapt to different situations and working environments

  • Good organization and time management skills

  • Positive attitude and good track record of continuous improvement

  • Strong and clear communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Excellent English both written and verbal

 

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:  

  • College or university degree with a focus on supply chain management, alternatively, equivalent combination of education and related work experience in the field of Logistics, Footwear and/or Apparel

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of work experience, preferably in a Supply Chain Management or Transportation environment within the footwear and apparel industry
