Course Code and Title: CSCC43H3 - Introduction to Databases

 

Course Description: Introduction to database management systems. The relational data model. Relational algebra. Querying and updating databases: the SQL query language. Application programming with SQL. Integrity constraints, normal forms, and database design. Elements of database system technology: query processing, transaction management. 

 

Course Enrollment (est.): 80

 

Number of Positions (est.): Two, 58 hours each.

 

Qualifications: Experience with DBMSs such as MySQL is required. The successful candidate must be thoroughly familiar with the content of the course.

Duties: General duties include conducting weekly tutorial sessions; holding office hours; grading quizzes, assignments, tests and exams; other duties as required by the course. Duties of this position shall be performed at the campus on which the position is located.

 

Sessional dates of appointment:  May 4 - August 31, 2026

 

Salary: Sessional Instructional Assistant - $54.27 per hour.
