Software Engineer (React UI Modernization)
Apply NowYou will play a key role in transforming legacy platforms into scalable, maintainable, and performance-driven applications while collaborating closely with backend, DevOps, and product stakeholders.
This project focuses on modernizing enterprise-level retail systems that directly support business-critical store and supply chain operations.
Location: Must reside and have work authorization in Latin America.
Availability: Must be available to work with significant overlap with Mountain Standard Time (MST).
The Ideal Candidate Has:
- BS/MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- 6+ years of experience in Frontend Engineering.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with React and strong experience using NextJS.
- Advanced expertise in TypeScript, including complex type modeling and scalable architecture patterns.
- Experience designing and maintaining shared component libraries and design systems.
- Strong experience building hybrid and enterprise-grade applications.
- Proven experience integrating with Java/Spring services and Postgres-backed APIs.
- Strong understanding of phased modernization strategies over legacy backend systems.
- Deep experience with Playwright (E2E) and Jest (unit testing).
- Strong understanding of enterprise testing strategies for data-heavy UIs.
- Experience managing CI/CD pipelines in GitLab.
- Experience implementing monitoring and observability strategies using Datadog.
- Experience leading frontend modernization initiatives.
- Retail, store operations, or supply chain system experience (strong plus).
- Comfortable engaging with stakeholders and incorporating real-world user feedback.
- Bonus: Android and/or iOS frontend experience.
- Excellent communication skills in English (C1 preferred, strong B2 may be considered).
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead frontend architecture decisions and modernization strategy.
- Design scalable UI solutions using React, NextJS, and TypeScript.
- Drive best practices in code quality, testing, and CI/CD automation.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with backend, DevOps, and product teams.
- Mentor mid-level engineers and promote engineering excellence.
- Define testing strategies using Playwright and Jest.
- Ensure performance optimization and monitoring using Datadog.
- Lead phased migration from legacy systems to modern frontend architecture.
- Incorporate user feedback and real-world retail workflows into UI improvements.
