Your Impact

Provide legal counsel on a broad range of areas, including litigation, commercial law, land, employment, safety, and sustainability, under the guidance of a Director, Legal /Head, Legal

As Part of Our Team You Will

In this role, the individual will:

• Advise on legal matters, including commercial and general corporate law, employment, safety, company law compliance, environment, and litigation. Execute complex legal matters under the guidance of the Director, Legal, Head, Legal.
• Formulate creative and practical solutions within the legal framework with associated risk trade-offs.
• Stay up to date on significant legal and regulatory issues and trends within the country.
• Facilitate legal documentation and coordination of joint ventures and transactions within the region, in coordination with the Corporate Legal department as appropriate.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts and agreements for the BU; execute complex contracts under the guidance and oversight of the Director, Legal. For complex contracts/agreement, work is performed under the guidance and oversight of the Director, Legal.
• Support the Director, Legal, on Sustainability and safety matters, including environmental compliance, regulatory investigations, permitting, non-compliance resolutions, and community and Indigenous agreements.
• Support the Director, Legal, on litigation, dispute avoidance, resolution, and litigation strategy with direct oversight and collaboration with outside counsel.
• Advise on employment law, labor relations management, collective bargaining agreements, workplace standards and policies, and employment agreements.
• Advice on compliance with local anti-competition laws, general company law compliance, and intellectual property issues.

Prerequisites for your success in this role

Law degree and licensed to practice in applicable jurisdiction(s).Strong understanding of a broad range of legal issues, laws, and regulations. Experience in mining or a global, multinational environment is a plus. 
Understanding of mining-related laws and issues, Legal trends, and legislative changes
Competent proficiency to apply independent judgment and specialized legal knowledge/experience when addressing complex issues. Competent proficiency in collaborating and partnering with internal and external stakeholders. 
Competent proficiency in identifying and mitigating legal risks. Competent proficiency in negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
Advanced English (spoken and written), Dutch preferred.
