About the Role:

The BA (Hons) Social Work Distance Learning degree from Robert Gordon University is designed for someone who has recent and relevant previous experience in a related social care type role. It will provide you with the knowledge, values, and skills required to practice as a qualified Social Worker.

This degree gives you the flexibility to balance your learning with work and other life commitments. Designed as a work-based degree (students are employed full time as student social workers), it is delivered through a combination of on-campus learning (up to x2 one week learning blocks at RGU, Aberdeen each year - these are compulsory to attend, practice experience and tutor led learning supported by online resources.

There are two entry levels dependent on your existing qualifications and experience. Standard Entry requires 120 Level Four academic credits, and Advanced Entry ordinarily requires a further 120 Level 5 relevant academic credits or a relevant degree. A minimum of one year's full time related work is also required. The qualification will lead to professional registration with Social Work England - The Social Work professional regulatory body.

In order to be considered for this post you are required to be resident in Guernsey and hold an appropriate permit to enable you to commit to a full-time academic programme and 3 years of post-qualification working. You are also required to meet a minimum academic entry criterion as set by the RGU.

 

If you are offered a place on the degree course and take up your position as a student social worker, you will undertake your degree in an Adult Disability Services workplace, and you will be required to work in this area for a minimum period of 3 years immediately following your qualification.
