Job Summary

St. Mary Magdalen Catholic School in Brentwood is seeking energetic, responsible, and faith‑filled Part‑Time Summer Camp Counselors to support our summer camp program. The Summer Camp Counselor works under the direction of the Summer Camp Director to provide a safe, engaging, and Christ‑centered environment where children can learn, play, and grow through structured activities and positive relationships.

Job Responsibilities

  • Supervise children during daily summer camp activities to ensure safety and well‑being.
  • Lead and assist with age‑appropriate games, crafts, recreational activities, and special events.
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive environment aligned with Catholic values.
  • Support students during transitions, outdoor play, lunch, and group activities.
  • Reinforce camp rules, routines, and behavior expectations consistently.
  • Assist with set‑up, clean‑up, and organization of camp materials and activity spaces.
  • Monitor attendance and assist with student arrival and dismissal procedures.
  • Communicate concerns, incidents, or student needs promptly to the Camp Director.
  • Work collaboratively with other counselors and camp staff.
  • Participate in training, meetings, and planning sessions as required.
  • Uphold school policies and actively support the mission of Catholic education.
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma required or current high school enrollment
  • Experience working with children in a camp, school, or youth program setting preferred.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to supervise groups of children and respond calmly in various situations.
  • Reliable, energetic, flexible, and positive attitude.
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain prior to camp start).
  • Ability to work a part‑time summer schedule during designated camp hours.
  • Practicing Catholic preferred; must support and respect Catholic teachings and traditions.
