Job Summary
St. Mary Magdalen Catholic School in Brentwood is seeking an organized, energetic, and faith‑filled Summer Camp Director to lead and oversee our summer camp program. The Summer Camp Director is responsible for the planning, supervision, and daily operation of the camp, ensuring a safe, engaging, and Christ‑centered environment that supports children’s social, emotional, and recreational growth.
Job Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and oversee all aspects of the summer camp program, including daily schedules, activities, and special events.
- Supervise, support, and evaluate summer camp staff, aides, and volunteers.
- Ensure a safe, structured, and nurturing environment aligned with Catholic values.
- Develop and implement age‑appropriate activities, games, crafts, and recreational programming.
- Maintain compliance with school policies, diocesan guidelines, and safety regulations.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with families regarding schedules, expectations, and concerns.
- Oversee student attendance, sign‑in/sign‑out procedures, and daily records.
- Respond appropriately to student needs, behavior concerns, and emergencies.
- Collaborate with school administration to align camp operations with the mission of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic School.
- Coordinate materials, supplies, and use of camp spaces.
- Participate in training, meetings, and planning sessions as required.
- Promote a positive camp culture that encourages respect, teamwork, and responsibility.
- Uphold school policies and actively support the mission of Catholic education.
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
Job Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development, Recreation, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with children in an educational, camp, or youth program setting required.
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage staff, schedules, and daily operations effectively.
- Ability to respond calmly and appropriately in a variety of situations.
- CPR and First Aid certification required (or willingness to obtain prior to camp start).
- Availability to work a full summer camp schedule.
- Practicing Catholic preferred; must support and respect Catholic teachings and traditions.
