Job Summary
The Technical Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and supporting the physical and technical infrastructure of the parish. This includes building systems, audio-visual equipment, and general upkeep to ensure a safe, welcoming environment aligned with the mission of the Catholic Church.
Job Responsibilities
1. Facilities Maintenance
- Perform routine inspections of church buildings, rectory, parish hall, and grounds
- Maintain HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and lighting systems
- Complete minor repairs (doors, windows, flooring, fixtures)
- Coordinate with external contractors for major repairs
2. Technical & AV Support
- Set up and operate sound systems, microphones, and livestream equipment for Mass and events
- Troubleshoot audio/visual and IT issues
- Maintain projectors, screens, and recording systems
- Support parish office technology (basic networking, printers, computers)
3. Preventative Maintenance
- Develop and follow maintenance schedules
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and building codes
- Maintain maintenance logs and service records
4. Event Setup & Support
- Prepare spaces for liturgies, weddings, funerals, and parish events
- Move furniture, set up staging, lighting, and equipment
- Provide on-site technical support during major events
5. Groundskeeping (if applicable)
- Maintain outdoor areas (snow removal, lawn care, landscaping)
- Monitor parking lots and walkways for safety
Job Requirements
- Experience in building maintenance, facilities management, or similar role
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems
- Familiarity with audio/visual equipment and livestreaming technology
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical tasks
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
