Project Overview:
Bechtel's Manufacturing and Technology (M&T) is an exciting and growing business unit serving the semiconductor, electric vehicle, and datacenter markets, striving to exceed customer objectives through agility, innovative technologies, and world-class talent while solving the industry's toughest challenges for the future. Bechtel is supporting the construction of a semiconductor fabrication facility in Clay, New York, delivering a large, complex, fast-paced project footprint to safely enable advanced manufacturing capacity.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will supervise and coordinate temporary power construction activities for a mid-size project of medium to high complexity. You will lead craft and subcontractor work to support safe, reliable, and productive temporary electrical power installation, maintenance, testing, inspection, and removal. Your leadership will help ensure work is executed in accordance with project requirements, safety expectations, approved design documents, schedule commitments, and quality standards.
Major Responsibilities:
- Supervise and direct temporary power craft activities, including installation, maintenance, modification, testing, inspection, and removal of temporary electrical systems.
- Plan and schedule daily and short-term work activities, review completed work, and determine workforce, material, tool, and equipment needs to support safe and productive execution.
- Coordinate temporary power work with Field Engineering, ES&H, Quality, Project Controls, subcontractors, client representatives, and other construction disciplines to align with project priorities, interfaces, and schedules.
- Review and assign installation work packages, support construction methods and procedures, and oversee preparation of look-ahead plans, reports, forecasts, manning charts, and material requirements.
- Monitor subcontractor schedules, resource plans, work methods, material deliveries, and storage requirements within the assigned temporary power scope.
- Oversee field material requisitions for temporary power equipment, cabling, tools, consumables, and other non-permanent plant materials needed for field execution.
- Ensure work is performed using current design documents and approved changes, and verify installation quality against drawings, specifications, vendor requirements, project procedures, and applicable codes.
- Promote and enforce project safety requirements, work rules, and the Zero Accident Philosophy, ensuring temporary power installations, tools, and equipment are maintained and operated safely.
- Work with Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals to interpret technical documents, resolve constructability issues, coordinate engineering solutions, and support field change documents and requests for information.
- Oversee temporary power testing, inspections, technical acceptance, installed quantity reporting, and use of applicable automation tools and project data systems.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8 -10 years of relevant experience [OR] 12-14 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong working knowledge of temporary power systems used to support construction operations, field offices, temporary facilities, tools, equipment, and craft work areas.
- Knowledge of electrical construction practices, including raceway and cable installation, grounding, distribution equipment, terminations, temporary power installation, testing, and removal.
- Working knowledge of applicable electrical codes and standards, including NEC and NFPA 70E, with the ability to apply requirements to temporary power planning, installation, inspection, and safe work practices.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, vendor documents, installation work packages, cable assembly drawings, and other technical documents.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, schedule, coordinate, and lead craft and subcontractor work, including look-ahead schedules, installed quantity tracking, progress monitoring, and material, tool, equipment, and cable coordination.
- Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, database applications, automation tools, and project systems used for planning, reporting, quantity tracking, and field execution.
