We're seeking an experienced Test Automation Lead to join our Application Development Team within the Finance, Infrastructure and Digital Technology Directorate.
This is an exciting opportunity to shape how quality is embedded across CEWA's growing portfolio of digital products, data solutions and emerging AI-enabled technologies. Working closely with product, engineering and business stakeholders, you will establish modern testing practices that support innovative solutions for schools, staff and students across Western Australia.

About the Role
Working within the Application Development team, you will lead CEWA's automated testing capability, helping to ensure our products are secure, reliable, scalable and focused on delivering meaningful outcomes. You will partner with software engineers, data engineers, product specialists and business stakeholders to embed quality across the development lifecycle and drive a culture of continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Establish and evolve CEWA's test automation strategy, standards and quality practices
- Lead automated testing initiatives across application and data products
- Partner with stakeholders to ensure solutions meet business and user needs
- Provide technical leadership and hands-on expertise in automation testing
- Drive quality assurance practices for data, security, performance and customer experience
- Introduce innovative approaches to testing, including AI-enabled quality practices
About You
You are a quality-focused technology leader who enjoys building capability and influencing outcomes across multidisciplinary teams. You combine strong technical expertise with excellent stakeholder engagement skills and have a track record of implementing automated testing solutions in agile product environments.
Essential requirements:
- Significant experience leading testing or quality assurance practices within agile software delivery environments
- Strong automation testing experience using modern test frameworks and cloud-based technologies
- Demonstrated programming capability, ideally with technologies such as Playwright, TypeScript, Python, SQL or similar
- Experience testing application and data products, including non-functional requirements
- Strong understanding of data quality, validation and testing strategies
- Prepared to support the Catholic ethos in the performance of your duties
Highly regarded:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or industry certifications
- Experience within Microsoft technology ecosystems
- Data integration, API and analytics testing experience
