Advertised Compensation: $23.86- $26.51 an hour

Purpose:  The Transportation Coordinator at Chicago O'Hare Import Center, coordinates product shipments from production to the end-user and distribution center to distribution center, ensuring that shipments are handled efficiently, safely, and within budget.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Schedules daily and weekly routes and reviews continually for improvement and efficiency
  • Tracks orders using functional systems, and looks to enhance existing systems to include advancing technology, such as TMS tracking software ensuring goods are delivered
  • Coordinates with DC & warehouse teams to ensure proper storage and distribution of products
  • Monitors and reports on transportation costs and industry change impacts
  • Ensures shipping documents are properly filed
  • Reports maintenance and repair needs for transportation vehicles and equipment
  • Conducts regular safety audits on equipment
  • Keeps organized records of vehicles, schedules and completed orders
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and shipping legislation

 

Reporting Relationship:   Reports to Director Transportation and Fleet Management

 

Major interdependencies: Operations, Operational Excellence, Master Data

 

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment:

  • Experience:

    • Requires at least one year of experience executing distribution or inventory management programs
    • In the industry: At least one year of Hospitality, F&B and/or Retail experience
  • Specialized Skillset/Competencies/Traits:

    • Requires knowledge of distribution, inventory management and fleet systems
    • Business acumen and also has the mindset required to understand the long-term implications of distribution management and to advance the organizations goals
    • Demonstrated history of maintaining positive work environments
