$105,382.83 to $112,913.27  Annually  + 13% super

Join our team as a Turf Services Operations and Contracts Officer

 

Are you passionate about high-quality sports turf and the delivery of professional-level playing surfaces? Do you bring strong industry experience and thrive in a role that focuses on contractor management, planning and operational oversight? If so, we invite you to apply for the Turf Services Operations and Contracts Officer position at Redland City Council.

 

In this role, you will oversee the maintenance and performance of approximately 70 hectares of community sports fields and several hectares of parks, ensuring playing surfaces are safe, compliant and ready for use year-round. This is a leadership and coordination role suited to an experienced turf professional who understands the demands of seasonal sport, renovations and contractor-delivered services.

 

 

Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Leading and coordinating Turf Services, with a strong focus on managing a contractor‑delivered service model
  • Overseeing sports field and park turf maintenance and renovation programs
  • Managing procurement activities and bringing approved works into Council systems
  • Liaising with the community including sporting clubs, club presidents and ground staff regarding field condition, seasonal needs and upgrades
  • Acting as a key point of contact for customer and stakeholder enquiries related to sports fields
  • Managing contracts and contractors to ensure efficient delivery of services are being maintained
  • Supporting planning and asset management through basic GIS mapping and data accuracy
  • Monitoring contractor performance to ensure quality, safety and compliance standards are met

 

Skills and experience:

 

  • A Certificate III in Sports Turf Management and/or substantial industry experience in sports turf operations is highly desirable
  • Proven experience managing contractors in a turf, facilities or asset management environment
  • Strong understanding of sports field maintenance, renovations and seasonal turf requirements
  • Demonstrated passion for all things turf and the delivery of high-quality playing surfaces
  • Exposure to irrigation systems is desirable
  • A broad understanding of weed control methods and an understanding of the biosecurity requirements in managing biosecurity weeds
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with community groups
  • Well-organised with experience working in operational and work order systems

Eligibility:

 

  • You'll hold a Current Class C Drivers Licence.
  • You'll have the ability to participate in the after-hours on-call roster, including remote response and site-related operations over weekends and public holidays on a rostered basis.
  • Certificate III or IV in Sports Turf Management is highly desirable.
  • To be eligible for employment, applicants must have the legal right to work in Australia.
