Utitlities Technician

Position Vacant:                 Utilities Technician 

Function:                              Supply Chain

Location:                              Port Moresby

 

We have an immediate requirement for a Utilities Technician, to join our Utilities Team within our Engineering Department, reporting to the Utilities Engineer.

 

The Utilities Technician ensures daily process monitoring and control, to ensure availability of Utilities such as Electricity, Water, Carbondioxide, etc. for production. Implement and follow the key performance indicators and strive for continuous improvement. Work according to the company policy and procedures, with the aim of achieving the Utilities overall Key Performance Indicators.

 

Main Duties will include:

  • Establish individual plants are operating as per design specifications.

    • Understand individual plant operation.
    • Operate utilities equipment by executing Planned Maintenance tasks.
    • Execute Corrective Maintenance on plants in the Utilities.
  • Monitor and Control of utilities equipment.

    • Execute shift duties, such as Quality Control Checks, Cleaning, Inspection, Lubrication,Tightening, 5S, etc.
    • Report on Utilities production and Energy & Water consumptions.
    • Execute Shiftly equipment checks and make registrations.
    • Identify deviations from design specification and take immediate action if needed or follow up with tag when not urgent.
    • Act in case of dangerous situations, such as ammonia, fuel, or Carbondioxide leakages. Execute frequent walk-around inspections to assess machine condition and report by means of tagging. Escalate issues to next higher level when needed.
  • Execute Preventive Maintenance tasks as per Planned Maintenance schedules.

    • Execute Planned Maintenance on time and in full, according to given schedule on work order.
    • Report findings of inspections back to utilities engineer
    • Work along with contractors in the utilities area and supervise on safe work practices.

 

Qualification & Experience:

  • Bachelors, Trade certificate (mechanical, or electrical, or automation, or instrumentation) from technical college, TAFE or equivalent

  • Basic knowledge (non-expert) of operation and maintenance of following equipment:

    • Compressed air installation
    • Power generation and power distribution systems
    • Water and wastewater treatment
    • Carbondioxide  recuperation system
    • Ammonia Refrigeration system
    • Steam generation.
  • Specific

    • Refrigeration legislation
    • Basic Electricity legislation
